When buying a French Bulldog puppy, there are basic questions you should ask the breeder. Respectable breeders will share information.…...

How To Choose a Reputable Breeder

Pure-blooded French Bulldogs can be fairly expensive. So if you’re going to spend a lot of cash to have a fantastic looking, faithful, as well as a playful puppy, be sure to deal with a reputable French bulldog breeder.

A reputable dog breeder will be able to provide you with a French bulldog that is extremely gorgeous, and a dog that will give you the real experience of owning a Frenchie.

But first things first. How do you know if a dog breeder is trustworthy?

Reputable breeders share all information about their dogs. They even show it on their website.

Photos and pedigrees are posted and any health concerns are disclosed to potential buyers.  Their dogs are very well cared for and the breeder has a great concern in maintaining the integrity of the breed.

5 Questions to Ask the Breeder

1. Has the puppy been vaccinated and when?

Puppies should get their first vaccination between 50-60 days old. this should also include vaccination for flea and worming at 6-8 weeks.

2. Are the parents healthy?

Verify this by reviewing the health checks performed in the past. These are typically done by veterinarians. These veterinary checks usually include tests for stenotic nares, elongated soft palate, ocular cataract test, hip dysplasia, cherry eyes, and deafness. See LubbyDubby Frenchies Health Guarantee.

3. What is the Breeding Frequency?

We recommend one litter per year for a female. This ensures that the female can get the proper attention.

4. What is the age of the parents and their medical history?

Brachycephalic dogs do not present genetic conditions until they are 2-3 years old. It’s important to ask the breeder if the parents are in this age range. Ideally, you may want to meet the parents of the puppy and confirm they are above two years of age.

5. How frequently are the puppies handled?

It is important that the breeder does not handle the puppies too much. Handling them too much might prove to be irritating. This can make the puppy irritable when he is handled in the future.

Remember, good dog breeders, do not sell mixed breed puppies, also known as mutts. Purebred dogs are meant to be treated in the lap of luxury and treated like the expensive dogs they are. Once you decide that a purebred French bulldog puppy is a good fit for you, you can start looking for breeders in your area.

Reputable breeders love their animals and go to great lengths to provide a proper environment and healthcare for their puppies. Puppies are products of their surroundings. A good, clean and caring environment will assure a happy, healthy pup.
